My husband and I are huge fans of the ABC show Modern Family. The 3 families that are depicted in the show are hysterical. Each has their own quirks as we all do in ‘real’ life. I adore the Dunphy’s home. It is probably because of where we are in our life. We have children and our house is typically less than stellar on most occasions. Claire and Phil’s home has the lived in and loved appeal to us. I love the colors in the home. I recently painted our dining room and office the blue that is shown in the entry of the Dunphy home. I believe that is was not on purpose, but since the beginning of the show I have loved the blue. The actual color of paint is Labrador Blue from Benjamin Moore. The production designer, Richard Berg, purposely based the design for a Pottery Barn-Restoration Hardware traditional modern feeling.
This is a well loved room. You can tell from the cozy sofa and chair to the mish mash of plate art in the dining area. The rug is from Home Goods and the cocktail table is from Crate & Barrel. While you may be hard pressed to find the exact rug at Home Goods, you will find many options. I love Home Goods and that every time I browse the store there is something different. So, if you find something you really like you have to get it then or it will be gone.
I am a huge fan of painted kitchen cabinets. It’s a great way to bring in color usually a neutral unless you are very brave. This is typically in any home where most of the action takes place. I really like the farmhouse table. The chairs are a great accompaniment to the table. I believe that the chairs are the Napoleon chair from Pottery Barn. You can find them here. As far as the dining table goes, the Harvest Dining table may be a good option from Pottery Barn as well.
I will do more posts about this home because I really love it. What are your favorite TV homes?
