I’ve seen all over Blogland the very cool chalk paint. Let’s face it. I’m a Cheapo girl. Notice that’s with a capital-C. Spending $34.95 on a quart of paint is just not what I can or will do right now. Maybe one day, but highly doubtful. You can only imagine my joy when I came across a tutorial on how to make your own chalk paint from No Minimalist Here I was overjoyed. The cost? A whopping $4.00. Now I, too, can join in the painting craze and not wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat from the cost. Take a look at some pieces that I’ve found that have been painted with chalk paint.
I love the look of this paint. It has a French feel to it that has been around for years. I don’t have anything in my home that looks like this. Well, I’m sure nothing that came in the house looking like this. The kids have added some distressing of their own over the years. So I think it’s time to add something. Now finding that perfect carved mirror for my entry and painting it with DIY chalk paint is on my brain. Off to the thrift stores.
What do you think of chalk paint?

Hi Robyn! Thank you so much for the mention and the link. I can’t wait to see your paint projects.

Sherry, you are welcome. I love your blog. I’ve decided to paint our coffee table with the chalk paint. Unfortunately, I have to find the right fabric to coordinate everything first. Another exercise in patience.
Thanks for stopping by!
Less expensive and more colors if you make yourself, great! I had wanted to chalk paint a mirror for the bathroom but couldn’t get the right color. How do you think this will hold up with all the moisture from a bath though?
I haven’t tried it out in a wet area. This may be a project I need to tackle. I’ll let you know when I get one done.
I love chalk paint!!! I did fork over the $40 at Spice in Waco but it is worth every penny! You don’t have to treat or sand the furniture – just use one coat of paint and wax finish and you are done! I love it!!
What did you paint? I can’t wait to try it out! I need to get things a bit more organized so I can use it.
When are we getting together again?
